Chatham Maritime To Peak With Kawneer

Unitised or modular curtain walling from architectural aluminium systems supplier Kawneer will be used on two apartment towers that will become the high point of the groundbreaking Chatham Maritime development in Kent.
The Quays is a spectacular new landmark residential project, consisting of 332 apartments in two striking glass towers of 17 and 21 storeys and a five-storey wharf. It is supported by extensive new leisure and retail facilities providing a high-quality mixed-use scheme on the south side of Basin One, overlooking the marina.
Some 6,500m² of Kawneer’s AA®201 unitised system will be installed by approved sub-contractor Architectural Glazed Facades (AGF) for main contractor Ardmore Construction.
KDS Associates, employed by Ardmore, worked up the external design concept by Wilkinson Eyre. AGF will also install Kawneer’s AA®110 65mm curtain walling on the ground floor and penthouse elements and AA®603 tilt slide doors on the penthouses.
Ardmore’s development arm, Byrne Estates, won the contract from the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA), the organisation behind the multi-award winning redevelopment of Chatham Docks into a purpose-designed island community complete with homes, health and leisure facilities, schools and universities, and offices.
