KawneerTag at Channel View

Cardiff

From specification, support and performance testing to KawneerTag digital tagging training and installation, building information on Kawneer systems is now streaming at Channel View Estate, Cardiff.

Currently under construction by Wates, Channel View will create a strong and vibrant community at the very heart of the Grangetown district. It is being redeveloped by Cardiff City Council, replacing the existing 180 properties on the site, including a 1970’s high-rise tower block, with up to 400 spacious, low-carbon, highly efficient mixed tenure homes.

Kawneer approved specialist sub-contractor Denvalco is currently working on Tower Block B, which will provide independent living accommodation that includes 24 flats and a rooftop terrace.

The installation includes Kawneer’s new KWD92 UT+ Window System, the AA®720 HI Door System, AA®100 Curtain Walling and AA®190TB Doors.

Channel View is one of the very first projects to feature KawneerTag digital tagging technology, which involves fitting a digital tag to each facade element, holding a cloud-stored record of crucial data that can be accessed by a QR code by all relevant stakeholders, both now and long into the future.

KWD92 UT+ is the first interchangeable and customisable certified Passive House window. For Channel View, Kawneer and Denvalco worked closely to carry out comfort testing of KWD92 UT+ in the desired configuration, confirming its performance as part of Denvalco’s standard Inspection & Testing Plan that it implements on every project.

The desired configuration implements the KWD92 UT+ coupler, designed to deliberately and seamlessly integrate other Kawneer systems with KWD92 UT+. On Channel View Block B it joins the AA®720 HI door to the window system, stepping down from 92mm to 72mm.
