Supporting the Local Community

Kawneer UK is the 2017 winner of the Cheshire High Sheriff’s Award for Responsible Business Practice (see above video). Last year we earned the prestigious Halton ‘Responsible Business Award 2016’ for our impact on local community initiatives in 2015. Driven by our corporate social responsibility strategy, Kawneer UK has overseen the distribution of £290,000 in the last 10 years and the company’s employees have donated 3600 hours of volunteer time – this equates to one person working full time for two years!.

Our impact on the people and communities within which we work is just as important as our impact on the environment. We realise that as a company we have a responsibility to make that impact positive. So wherever we work, we maintain our stong core commitment to integrity, accountability and transparency in our dealings with customers, suppliers, our people and the local communities.

We’re resolute in working safely to protect and promote the health and well-being of individuals and the environment, with effective safety systems that identify hazards and risks and develop appropriate controls, constantly monitoring and improving any gaps in the protection provided.

And at a local level, we develop partnerships with community organisations to support and fund projects that address community needs and generally make a difference through the Arconic Foundation.

One of the main beneficiaries of the 2016 round of grant cheques was Young Addaction Halton, a charity working with disadvantaged young people. Addaction’s Colin Hughes commented, “The money kindly donated form the Arconic Foundation will allow Young Addaction Halton to enhance their targeted programme and work with some of the most vulnerable young people in the area. By providing opportunities to learn, gain accreditation(s) and be involved in positive experiences we will support and motivate the young people to raise and achieve their aspirations, be inspired to make a positive contribution and refrain from becoming NEET ( Not in Education, Employment or Training)”.
